Cap Cana is the first thing you reach on leaving the airport, and that changes everything. Twelve minutes after getting into the car you are at the hotel. For anyone travelling with small children, on a flight landing at two in the morning, or simply after ten hours in the air, that figure counts for more than any brochure.
What Cap Cana is
It is neither a town nor a conventional hotel strip but a private, gated development: a marina, a golf course, villas and a handful of resorts, with a lot of space between them. Density is far lower than in Bávaro, and Juanillo beach is among the most sheltered on the coast. In exchange, there is little to do on foot outside the estate.
The gate
Cap Cana is gated. In practice this complicates nothing, but it does change one detail: the chauffeur needs the exact destination, not simply “Cap Cana”. A hotel name, a villa with its number, or a marina berth is enough; a vague direction costs minutes at the gatehouse.

Getting around from Cap Cana
Being close to the airport also means sitting at one end of the coast. Bávaro is about twenty minutes away, and the excursions that leave from Bayahíbe — Saona island above all — are a good hour and a quarter off. None of that is far, but it is worth knowing before booking an early-morning departure.

- No — they are adjacent but distinct. Cap Cana is the gated development to the south; Punta Cana takes in the club, Puntacana Village and the first beaches. For our fares they count as one zone.

- Is there a different fare for the marina?
